Get to Know Me

I have worked in multiple hospital, education, family health team and community mental health settings conducting adult and adolescent therapy groups, family support groups and family and couples support sessions in addition to providing individual therapy with children, youth and adults. I am passionate about mental health services and committed to helping you navigate any challenges you’re facing. I bring my genuine self to our sessions so you can too. The relationships I build with others are meaningful to me and I believe in the importance of finding the right fit, like in any good relationship.

I received my Master of Social Work degree with a clinical specialization in Mental Health and Health from the University of Toronto. I completed my clinical internship training in Toronto at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) in the Borderline Personality Disorder Clinic, where I trained comprehensively in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). I take my commitment to professional practice and yearly development seriously and pursue continued professional supervision and training in many modalities, including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, Polyvagal Theory, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems and Mindfulness. I especially resonate with models of therapy that focus on attachment wound healing and nervous system regulation, healing and safety.

In my personal time I enjoy going for forest walks, cuddling with my cats, spending time with my husband and daughter, trying anything crafty and creative, up-cycling old furniture and treasure hunting in antique and second hand stores. I love a good book, good company and spending time playing board games and trying new foods with friends and family.

If you think I would be a good fit for you, reach out and we can schedule a free 15 minute consultation call to explore how you feel speaking with me and see if I feel I can be the right clinical support to you. If I feel I may not be the right fit, I will provide you with referrals or suggested therapies that may better serve you.

What is a Cycle Breaker?

"The term "cycle-breaker" refers to a person intentionally changing multi-generational family patterns. A cycle-breaker will need to deep dive into the origins of their and their family's behaviours and root out unhealthy patterns. Cycle-breaking involves both deep introspective work and intentional behavioural change." - Sarah Epstein, LMFT, Psychology Today

My Approach

I show up as my genuine self so you can feel comfortable to do so too. I genuinely care about the people I work with and take my role in your journey of self discovery and healing very seriously. It is a great honour for me to walk this path with you and the fact that you are placing your trust in me is not something I view lightly. I know what it is to navigate alone and to need someone to provide some much needed respite and support. I can help you find your own internal strengths, build greater understanding of your experiences and how they impact you in your current day to day and let go of performing for others and feeling yanked into the future or past by constant worry and racing thoughts. I believe in empowering people by teaching you the knowledge and skills that I have learned through extensive training and work experience so that you can carry those tools with you for the rest of your life and feel increasingly independent and able to decrease your need for sessions over time. I do not over schedule my calendar; I believe if I make a commitment to someone that I must also make a commitment to being accessible and communicative. I also believe this means being intentional and present during our sessions together, not over booking and maintaining balance in my own life so I can offer you the best of myself and my training. I do this work intentionally, calmly and with great pride and social purpose.
